Better Healthcare Starts with Health Literacy

What is this course about?

Health literacy is not just about the economics (health-literate employees spend about a third less than their non-literate counterparts). It’s also about health and culture. You can only achieve a culture of health if you have a culture of health literacy…and this course will provide you with the tools you need to get there. It is part of a complete program of online courses on healthcare benefits purchasing

Government data pegs health literacy at only 12%, a level which contributes to the waste of nearly a third of every medical care dollar spent. Lacking knowledge, employees make decisions based on unreliable information from questionable sources. A poor knowledge base harms employee health, and causes them to over-consume medical care at your expense.

Especially if you are instituting “consumerism” in your health benefit (meaning employees are on their own for a large deductible), you need to help your employees become wiser consumers of healthcare.

Knowledge Benefits offers this course in partnership with Quizzify, a company that teaches employees how to be health-literate healthcare consumers. Look for free access to some of Quizzify’s quizzes (uniquely, they are reviewed by doctors at Harvard Medical School) within the module.
