Start- up company fills knowledge gap for benefits administration executives
DENVER, March 8, 2018 — Knowledge Benefits is proud to announce Donna Marshall as its new CEO. Knowledge Benefits is an online educational business designed for employer benefit administrators and executives. Marshall successfully founded and served as Executive Director of the Colorado Business Group on Health until she stepped down last year after 21 years.
More than 150 million Americans get health insurance through their employer. Employers cite the cost of healthcare to be their most severe problem in a 2016 National Federation of Independent Business, echoing the results of the last 30 years. The Knowledge Benefit educational system provides a fun and effective platform for learning the inside workings of the healthcare industry, tools to be more effective at benefit design, how to measure whether plans and providers “measure up” while earning education credits from the Society for Human Resource Management.
“We learned that most healthcare administration executives learn “on the job,” said Marshall. “We are partnering with national experts to build objective and fact-based content that equips a cadre of activated purchasers.” Marshall notes that Warren Buffet calls healthcare costs the “tapeworm on the American economy,” and that employers have a fiduciary duty to practice excellence in the procurement and administration of the health care benefit.
Six courses are already accredited and online, and a course specifically designed for the C-Suite, “Buy More Health, Not More Healthcare,” is available for free. The courses use a proprietary system geared toward adult learners that is fun and targets “confidently held misinformation” to enhance retention of knowledge.
